Hello, I am Jaci and I am very excited to join the award-winning design by PHILIP BOORMAN, TJP Design team. The head of table, as it were is Philip Boorman who, along with Denise and their family, have opened a furniture studio, called Gallery 9, in Mapleton. Everything about Gallery 9 reflects Philip's values, talents and commitment to quality and sustainability. Philip and his wife Denise have established strong friendships, over many years, with people who've chosen Philip to design their house. You may be wondering what is so special about this? Why do I need to know this? You need to know this as the process is one of mutual respect that matures with time. Denise greets you with a bright sunny smile and a warmth of character that relaxes you immediately. Denise's industry knowledge and contacts, coupled with Philip's design expertise form a dynamic duo that can create your home, customised to suite your tastes and lifestyle. Philip often comments on what an honour it is to meet his clients. Speaking of clients. Well it is a word rarely used in this studio. Philip's clients are not ranked and filed into the black void of customer status. Quite the opposite. You come in the first time as a stranger and leave as a friend. Philip recently released a one-off piece of fine furniture entitled, "Portrait of a Client" The story of its design development truly reflects this process brilliantly. Philip is passionate about sustainability and eco-housing . But refuses to compromise with style and functionality. You will be astounded by his skill in combining contemporary lifestyle-friendly designs with old-fashioned commitment to quality of craftsmanship. You will be warmly accompanied, by Denise and Philip, on the journey of discovering your dream house design. During this journey towards realising your dream home, you will come to understand that Philip's skills and talents are similar to that of an elite athlete. Philip, like an elite athlete, makes the design and project management of you home construction appear seamless almost natural. You may even be tempted to think, "I could do that". However I would ask you to consider Greg Norman, for example, he makes golf look like we could all play it! But we also know that we, mere mortals, are committed to only watching in awe and amazement at his achievements. If you are already living in your design by PHILIP BOORMAN home, you may not have realised just what you have achieved! You have participated in the creation of a modern, stylish and practical home. Your home, in itself, is a piece of art - functional, useful ART. How is it that Philip Boorman can design homes that, "refresh your soul" as Gail Molloy gracefully shared with me during a recent visit to her home. So how does Philip Boorman achieve multi award-winning designer eco-homes that tread lightly on our earth and make you feel like you are on permanent holiday? I had no idea how! The design process is a very intricate and complicated thing and I quickly realised I needed more information. Philip took me to some of his homes, each one - different; each one - unique; each one - displaying an individual personality and each one positioned and poised peacefully on the land. Upon returning to Gallery 9, Philip then decided to take me to his home - WOW! Imagine a writer, a chatterbox by nature, standing in pure silence. It is not palatial in size or dimension nor is it filled with the trappings of an over-commercialised, mass consumerist society. It is however very well designed, stylish, practical, fully sustainable and situated in a magnificent and majestic valley of valleys. After a time of speechlessness I gathered myself knowing I had to be professional and ask some sensible questions. I couldn't. All I could think of was this place is like Picnic at Hanging Rock - but without the eeriness or the missing person factor. Well, after a time of contemplation, I have learnt that the best answer to the question: How does Philip Boorman achieve multi award-winning designer eco-homes that tread lightly on our earth and make you feel like you are on permanent holiday? Philip embraces the philosophies and practices of all kinds of unorthodox methods to get to know your land. Peter Molloy put it best when he said, " He came out to the site and walked around and sat in different places on the block. He spent the whole day here!". Peter's eyes were sparkling with both fascination and delight as he shared his memory of the day. |
